Czech Christmas Mass “Hej, mistře” (Hail, master!)

After a long time, we are bringing back to the Žilina stage the popular Christmas mass by the Czech classical composer Jan Jakub Ryba, which is played before Christmas in almost every Czech church, but which has also achieved great popularity abroad. Although it retains the plan of a Latin musical mass, it has at the same time the characteristics of a Czech folk shepherd’s play about the birth of Jesus, the arrival of the shepherds at the manger and their gifts to Jesus.
