The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross

The traditional Easter concert will feature Haydn’s legendary work “The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross”, which includes recitations of biblical texts between the individual movements. The texts were prepared and will be recited by Štefan Bučko, a member of the Slovak National Theatre’s drama company, who has been collaborating regularly with the SSZ since 2002. A romantic concert by Belgian composer Jules Busschop for an unconventional duo of soloists (oboe and clarinet) will certainly be an interesting addition to the concert season, as this work by this intriguing composer is being included in the SSZ’s program for the first time as part of a recording for a prestigious Belgian label.
